There are many reasons someone might need to hire a lawyer but most people are at a loss in identifying one that can help them with their legal issue. The New York Bar Association as made it easier than ever to obtain a referral to a lawyer by releasing their new website for their Lawyer Referral and Information Service (LRIS). This is a confidential service and can be accessed at https://nysbalris.legal.io.
In order to obtain a referral, an individual inputs their information, including a description of their legal issue. A staff member of the State Bar reviews this information and identifies a lawyer that can help and also is close to where the individual lives. The initial no-obligation consultation is $35 for the first 30 minutes. If the individual does decide to hire the lawyer and legal fees charged will be between the client and the lawyer.
One lawyer that might be referred through LRIS is Jeremy Goldstein, the Partner of Jeremy L. Goldstein & Associates, LLC. Jeremy Goldstein has been a lawyer in New York City for almost 20 years. He is a graduate of the New York University School of Law where he earned his law degree. He started out as an Associate at the law firm of Shearman & Sterling LLP before joining the prestigious law firm of Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz in 2000. He stayed at this law firm for 14 years, eventually earning the position of being a Partner of the firm.
Throughout his legal career, Jeremy Goldstein has focused on executive compensation as his legal specialty. In particular, his emphasis is on the issues that come up regarding this issue during a mergers and acquisitions transaction. Jeremy Goldstein has earned a reputation as an expert in handling these types of legal transactions.
